Soak Wash - Menswear

Spot clean your suits and ties and keep your dress shirts in great shape with Soak. While some items are definitely dry clean only (don’t Soak your suits!), there are other things that can definitely benefit from some tender laundry care.

Shirts
Cotton dress shirts don’t have to go to the cleaners to look great. Check the care label for specific instructions before washing.

Use Soak to hand or machine wash; add enough based on how much water is being used. If you’re hand washing, fill a basin with enough cool water to submerge the garment(s). If you’re using the machine, use the gentle cycle with a cool temperature.

Lay the shirt flat to dry to avoid stretching the material. Then, when you’re pressing or steaming, try Flatter starch-free smoothing spray to make it easier.

Sweaters
Wool and cashmere will stretch when wet and shrink with heat, so be extra careful with them. Soak in lukewarm water for 15 minutes, then gently squeeze the water out, being careful not to wring or stretch. Roll in a dry towel to squeeze out as much moisture as possible, then lay flat to dry. Consider buying a drying rack; it allows air to circulate so the sweater dries evenly.

Spot cleaning
Dropped a splotch on your tie or jacket? Soak works on any item that can’t be submerged in water. (But just to be sure, always check for fabric content and colorfastness beforehand.)

Put some Soak on a cotton swab and rub it into the fabric to release the stain. Then wet the other side of the swab and dab out the rest.
