Leotards
Turn them inside out to prevent snags, then Soak in cool water and dry flat, away from direct sunlight.
Tights and leggings.
Hand-wash in cool water or in the machine in an Eco Wash Bag on the gentle cycle.
Leg warmers, sweatbands and socks
Hand-wash in cool water or in the machine on the gentle cycle, then air dry on a flat surface.
Ballet tutus
Soak the tutu in the bathtub in lukewarm water for 15 minutes. Drain the water and shake gently before hanging to air dry.
Figure skating dresses
For heavily adorned competition dresses (think rhinestones, feathers and the like), hand wash in cool water. For dresses with trim that cannot be washed, remove the trim before washing or Soak the item leaving the trim in question out of the water. Follow Soak’s hand-washing instructions, and be sure to air dry – high heat degrades Lycra and can damage trims. Do not dry clean skating dresses as dry cleaning can dull rhinestones.
Practice dresses without delicate trims can be hand-washed in cool water and air dried. Spritz with Flatter Ironing & Smoothing spray between washes to keep skating dresses fresh.
